A vitally important problem for any student, and even more so a graduate, is the search for opportunities to apply one’s own knowledge and skills in practice. It is sometimes not easy to find a job for a person who does not yet have a diploma or who has just graduated from university, even with the prestige of the obtained education. In the process of finding a job, unemployed youth face certain psychological difficulties. The majority of employers are focused on finding specialists with sufficient professional experience and are not very concerned with the problems of adaptation of young specialists.

The general list of professions in which students can work after obtaining a higher education in the specialty “Law”:

  • arbitration manager

With the purpose of providing assistance to students and graduates in planning their professional careers, creating conditions for the effective implementation of the right of students and graduates to work, students of the Department of Information, Economic and Administrative Law of the Federal State University of the KPI named after Igor Sikorskyi undergo industrial and pre-diploma practice in accordance with the contracts concluded by the faculty in courts, law firms, judicial bodies, notaries, and lawyers.

Internships provide ample opportunities for students to acquire practical skills necessary for starting an independent professional career.

For example, graduates of the 2019 class work in the Ministry of Justice, the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as a legal advisor at PJSC “Bank Unison” and as an assistant attorney at a law firm.

Graduates of the class of 2020 chose to start their legal career as a legal adviser at Ukr ASC LLC, Ukrsvitloservice LLC, State Academic Orchestra State Enterprise, and also improve the acquired knowledge by working as an assistant to a private executor, a specialist in the State Property Fund, and even in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Also, one of the graduates of the institute decided to continue her studies and is a graduate student of KPI Public Management and Administration.

Graduates of 2021, despite the lockdown and in the conditions of an increase in the number of firms whose employees switch to remote work, are successfully employed and work as assistant attorneys at the attorney O.S. Ryzhenko, assistant attorney at the Sadovska and Partners Law Office and the Bar Association. Legal company “Dictum” and apply the acquired knowledge and skills by registering as an individual entrepreneur.

The department closely cooperates with leading legal companies and state authorities, which significantly expands students’ opportunities for internships and employment.

Such cooperation involves holding meetings of university graduates with potential employers, which makes it possible to provide graduates with a decent first workplace with the opportunity to implement the acquired knowledge and adapt it to practical activities.

An important point during the preparation of students for employment is the employer’s expectations. Our ideas about the “ideal candidate” or the “ideal employer”, no matter how correct they may be, are constantly changing. That is why interaction with the employer, researching the trends of the changing market, adjusting joint efforts to train the student is the main component of the work of the department.

It is for this purpose that the university faculty maintains close ties with state organizations and companies of various forms of ownership. Such cooperation involves holding meetings of university graduates with potential employers, which makes it possible to provide graduates with a decent first workplace with the opportunity to implement the acquired knowledge and adapt it to practical activities.

For this purpose, representatives of state organizations and practicing lawyers, lawyers and judges are invited to give lectures, hold presentations, master classes and round tables on the basis of the department.

Center for career development of KPI

Center for career development of National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» was established in 2003, is a structural division of the university and is part of the Department of Educational Work.

The activity of the Center is aimed at the development of business and partnership relations between KPI and employing companies, providing comprehensive support in building careers for higher education seekers and graduates.

The Center’s mission: to increase the competitiveness of higher education applicants and graduates of National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» on the labor market, promoting their successful professional start and self-realization.
